Seumas Milne: Bring the troops back from Afghanistan

video: ady cousins

For those weren't able to make it to London, here, thanks to the wonders of You Tube is Seumas Milne's brilliant speech at the recent anti-war rally organised by Stop the War. As you'll see from the clip Seumas is a great speaker as well as being a great journalist, but to the best of my knowledge he has never appeared on the BBC1's Question Time programme, nor has he ever been a panellist on Radio 4's Any Questions. In fact, ask yourself how many true socialists you have seen/heard on Question Time or Any Questions. Pro-war neoliberals and faux leftists are invited every week and dominate the panels-(they even had a fascist on a few weeks back, I believe), but how many true socialists like Seumas, John Pilger or Jeremy Corbyn ever get invited?

It's supposed to be 'our' BBC, so shouldn't we try a little bit harder to get panels that actually represent public opinion?

Seumas Milne has no commissioning powers at the Guardian- he was hounded out of his job as comment editor by your neocon allies 'anonymous', because he committed the 'crime' of running articles by people you and your little gang of warmongering cyber-thugs didnt approve of.
btw, perhaps you can explain to readers why your IP address
87.82.198. easynet.co.uk- location 'London, City of London' is the same IP address as the person who sent in several comments under various identities on this thread?

You really are an obsessional crank, but we knew that already.

@Neil Clark

There’s an excellent video on Lyndon LaRouches http://www.larouchepac.com/ website presentation by Natalia Vitrenko who is the leader of the Progressive Socialist Party of Ukraine who ran for president in 2000 and survived a grenade attack at a rally discusses the economic, social and political situation of Ukraine under IMF policy during the 90’s and the state Ukraine is in under the criminal Orange gang today. The statistics and facts are quite shocking 80% GDP in foreign debt, population decline from 52 million in 91 to 46 million today, 70% population living below the poverty line, etc.

You don’t seem to have an email address so I will post the link on your comment section when they upload it on there YouTube site http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=laroucheyouth#g/u

I hope you post it on your blog.

I agree that the US/UK/NATO should have left Afghanistan a long time ago, but the US did have the right to bomb and attack the Taliban and Al Queda after 9/11. Once the Americans destroyed Al Queda and toppled the Taliban, that should have ended the NATO mission. In no sense of the word are the Taliban or Al Queda innocent victims of American aggression.

Hello Neil,

Told you that conflict was fun, didn't I? Now you are starting to believe me.

Changing the subject completely, I have decided to drop Anthea from her role as sex toy in chief and replaced her with Branka. A little Croatian darling who goes like a steam engine when her fires are suitably poked.

@vladimir gagic

But the trail from 9/11 did not trace back to Afghanistan but to Pakistan, Germany, Britain, Czech Rep, Florida in the US and especially Bosnia all with connections to various foreign intelligence with strong evidence that Atta was in the payroll or an actual BND agent Dennis Hopsicker a Florida based independent journalist who interviewed Atta’s girlfriend has done good investigative work on Atta and 2 of the other hijackers activities while in Florida.

Even Foreign Policy magazine article the publication of CFR admitted that the Taliban had no connection to Al Qaeda and opposed Bin Laden Fatwa’s against the US even threatening him to be kicked out of the country at one point, that they did not run the terrorist camp that were for Islamic forces to fight in Eurasia (Kashmir, Chechnya, Uzbekistan, Xinjing (China)) and in Algeria and Kosovo. And there has not been one credible terrorist attack since 9/11 in the US.

Neil,

Having recently read two of Pilger's books, the thought that he would provide an excellent leaven to the usual 'Question Time' suspects had also occurred to me.

By the same token, Mandelson never appears on it when he really should, if only to realise how deep is the strength of public opinion against him.
